Final Announcement

iThemba LABS is pleased to host the third workshop on Accelerator Reliability (ARW2011).  ARW 2011 will take place in Cape Town, South Africa from 10-15 April 2011.

The First ARW was hosted by ESRF in Grenoble, France in 2002, while the second workshop was hosted by TRIUMF in Vancouver in 2009. The workshop was very successful and the participants expressed interest in making it a regular event.

This will be the first time that such a workshop is held on the African Continent and its relative accessibility will be an ideal opportunity for developing nations both in Africa and elsewhere to attend, but also first world countries in Europe and North America and elsewhere will benefit from the favourable rate of exchange providing an affordable experience. In addition, this may satisfy the educational component which iThemba LABS has championed over recent years, affording Accelerator Physics students the opportunity to gain insight from the world’s foremost experts in the field, on the importance of defining and incorporating this crucial aspect of ‘accelerator’ functionality at the design stage.

The ARW provides a venue for the accelerator communities to meet and share their experiences on running reliable facilities. The workshop fulfills a need to have improved information exchange on technical issues and equipment reliability. It facilitates the opportunity for staff to share their problems and solutions with their peers from other facilities.

The workshop is also of interest to vendors involved in all aspects of accelerator technology. It offers a venue to make contacts and promote their products.

Attendance at this workshop is open to all members of the accelerator community.   Online registration will be made available from 1 November 2010.

We look forward to welcoming you to ARW 2011 in Cape Town.
